Position Overview:

About the Team

Become a part of Fidelity's Collateral & Market Risk Management division, dedicated to safeguarding the organization from potential financial setbacks associated with margin lending and trading operations involving both institutional and retail clients. This team plays a crucial role in assessing lending capacity and conducting ongoing evaluations of the risks embedded in each client's investment portfolio and strategy. Through comprehensive simulations and stress testing, we analyze and quantify market-related risks in real-time. The team is also responsible for the development and maintenance of risk models, methodologies, and processes to ensure that our risk management framework remains resilient and effective as market dynamics, strategies, and products evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in stress testing and various risk and margin frameworks.
  • Conduct continuous evaluations of risk model performance, implement enhancements as needed, and assist in the creation of new models and methodologies to accommodate emerging business needs, markets, and products.
  • Execute daily reviews of market and macroeconomic events to identify potential shortcomings in risk models and assess the implications of market fluctuations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to assist internal stakeholders and clients regarding the firm’s risk and margin frameworks.
  • Undertake in-depth analyses of larger and more intricate client portfolios.
  • Gain proficiency in Central Counterparty (CCP) models and aid in the development of replication and attribution tools.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Data Science & Analytics teams to innovate and enhance risk processes, analytics, and trend analysis.
  • Work alongside the Risk Product Development team to improve risk management tools.
  • Establish and uphold frameworks and processes for ensuring data quality.
  • Engage with vendors providing essential data and modeling services to support the firm’s stress testing and margining activities.
  • Lead or assist in special projects and initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or a STEM field is preferred; additional qualifications such as FRM or CFA are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in risk management, particularly in collateralized lending.
  • Strong grounding in statistical analysis and quantitative methods in finance.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and products, including an understanding of the risks associated with listed derivatives and fixed income instruments.
  • Comprehension of risk management principles and the capability to analyze portfolio strategies and risks through stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; detail-oriented and inquisitive; capable of articulating complex topics clearly.
  • Knowledge of investment products, margin lending, trading, clearing, and relevant regulations.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, able to work independently and manage time effectively to drive initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Proficient in Excel, Bloomberg, PowerPoint, database queries, and analytical tools including SQL.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate discussions to drive results.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on challenging conventional approaches and collaborating with data science to implement new artificial intelligence techniques.
