General Overview:

This position is a non-commissioned examiner role responsible for conducting comprehensive examination work related to credit risk evaluation and management practices for a diverse range of moderately complex borrowing relationships. The role entails performing credit assessments during on-site evaluations, analyzing internal reports, engaging with bank management, reviewing industry data, and researching risk-related topics impacting the financial services sector. The position reports to the Regional Director and operates under limited supervision, allowing for significant initiative and independent judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute credit risk examination activities.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and submit findings to the Examiner-in-Charge.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of credit-related bank reporting.
  • May supervise staff assisting in credit evaluations.
  • Represent the Department of Banking at board and management meetings.
  • Collaborate extensively with federal regulators to ensure coordinated examination activities.
  • Participate in Shared National Credit reviews as a voting member.
  • Assist the Examiner-in-Charge as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field, including a minimum of six hours in accounting.
  • Six years of credit review experience with a bank regulatory agency, credit review firm, financial institution, or asset management resolution firm, or ten years of commercial lending experience as a senior officer with a depository institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a financial institution is desirable.
  • Completion of graduate banking school.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English with strong communication skills.

Special Requirements:

  • Position requires at least 50% overnight travel.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid Texas Driver's license within six months.
  • Demonstrated personal financial responsibility and integrity is essential.
  • Final applicants may undergo an employment credit check, driving record check, and criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Expertise in credit risk measurement and risk management practices.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements and business operating procedures.
  • Ability to review and audit financial data and records effectively.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

This position primarily involves sedentary office work, but mobility is required for certain duties. It necessitates regular use of computers, copiers, printers, and telephones, along with client/customer interaction. The role demands the ability to learn, recall, and apply specific practices and policies while maintaining attention to detail.
