Cape Cod Healthcare Inc. is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant Clinical Coordinator to join our team in Hyannis, Massachusetts. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient care and efficient practice operations.

Job Summary:
  • Provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed clinician
  • Assist with daily scheduling and patient flow to optimize clinical time
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, obtaining necessary information and vital signs as required

Responsibilities:

  1. Sign-On Bonus Eligible
  2. Under the direct supervision of the clinician, department supervisor or designee, assists in providing clinical care to office patients
  3. Manages clinicians' daily schedule and patient flow to expedite care and maximize clinical time
  4. Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms
  5. Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs as indicated (i.e., height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation)
  6. Inputs pertinent clinical information into the electronic health record timely and with accuracy and performs a complete medication reconciliation
  7. Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department. May advise patient of preparation required for exam or additional testing and keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays, and other relevant information pertaining to the patient's visit
  8. Prepare and maintain exam rooms for patient arrivals. Clean and/or maintain inventory of supplies (medical included) and equipment throughout the practice. Notifies supervisor to order clinical supplies, clinical equipment, and pharmaceuticals as appropriate
  9. Under the supervision of a physician, administers routine injections when delegated, and documents in real-time and with accuracy
  10. Ensures telephone calls are answered timely and clinicians receive necessary information
  11. Coordinates care when clinicians are not immediately available, ensuring that telephone calls are triaged appropriately per established protocols
  12. Assists in resolving patient concerns by acting as an advocate, as appropriate
  13. Participates in practice and department meetings, trainings, etc. to promote continuous improvement and quality patient care
  14. Takes initiative to learn, understand, and stay current with community resources and the greater healthcare system while continuously participating in self-assessment of skills
  15. Maintains patient rights and abides by all confidentiality obligations pursuant to CCHC and HIPAA
  16. Provides clerical/office support as necessary (i.e., scheduling appointments, greeting and registering patients, scanning incoming medical records and paperwork, preparing medical records, answering phone calls and taking messages, faxing, etc.)
  17. Ability to float to other MACC practices when required
  18. Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested
  19. Assists with the assessment of patient needs and coordinates care under the direction of the clinician
  20. Verifies and implements clinician's orders for testing and/or procedures (EKG's, dressing changes, spirometry, Holter monitors, etc.)
  21. Provides effective and evidence-based patient and family teaching, using health promotion and health teaching methods in collaboration with the patient's values, beliefs, health practices, developmental level, learning needs, readiness, and ability to learn, language preference, spirituality, culture, and socioeconomic status
  22. Triage walk-in patients per established protocols
  23. Maintains communication and collaboration with interprofessional team and others to facilitate safe transitions and continuity of care delivery

Requirements:

  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program (LPN) or school of nursing (RN)
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Massachusetts
  • Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills
  • Experience with current office technology and proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.)
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a clinical setting preferred
