Job Summary

As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in shaping our financial strategy and driving growth through mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships. This dynamic role requires a strong background in both technical accounting and finance, as well as a deep understanding of our business, operations, and functional capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all financial aspects of enterprise strategic initiatives, including due diligence, integration planning and execution, technical accounting and valuation considerations, risk & process evaluation of target entities, and representation of CFA leadership on cross-functional M&A projects.
  • Accountable for the end-to-end finance execution of all strategic initiatives and M&A transactions, taking ownership of the accuracy of financial reporting and results.
  • Manage the set-up of opening accounting balances and subsequent accounting practices in relation to strategic projects and acquisitions.
  • Lead the planning, forecasting, and business partnering necessary for executive oversight down through operational cost stewardship.
  • Oversee any current finance operations gaps, developing a steady-state placement with support of executive management.
  • Partner with finance leaders and teams to ensure a smooth transition to steady state for impacted operations.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Development Team or Integration Management Office (IMO) in designing operating models, executing all finance activities, and working with cross-functional VPs (IT, Operations, HR, Legal, etc.) and subject matter experts and leaders within the finance and actuarial organization.
  • Communicate and create supporting materials to ensure executive management can make high-quality decisions and take decisive action.
  • Deliver a clear project and/or integration roadmap that sets the pace, expectations, and timeline for key milestones to achieve initiative or deal-specific value and synergies.
People Leadership
  • Manage and mentor a team of analyst and finance business partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence.
  • Leverage a deep technical accounting and finance background to develop a pipeline of dynamic and autonomous resources who thrive in the ambiguity of strategic projects.
  • Develop individuals both vertically and laterally with foundational skillsets rooted in business-specific knowledge and industry expertise.
  • Effectively communicate with key leaders across the organization by having a thorough understanding of strategic priorities and clearly articulating business results.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's of Accounting, MBA, and/or related advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and/or accounting experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience building and managing high-performance teams.
  • Experience leading multiple teams, motivating and inspiring ideas and innovation, problem-solving with an out-of-the-box way of thinking, and the ability to see the value in information provided and inspire others to make use of it.
  • Experience in a rapidly changing environment and comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating, and implementing change.
  • Experience and/or exposure to the insurance industry (preferred).
  • Merger and Acquisition transactions (preferred).
  • Professional licensure or certification: CPA, CMA, MBA, and/or CFA (preferred).
