We are currently in search of a Warehouse/Commissary Worker who is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care within a secure, institutional environment.

The Warehouse/Commissary Worker plays a crucial role in managing all facets of warehouse and/or commissary operations, which includes overseeing and guiding teams of inmate/resident workers. Responsibilities encompass receiving, storing, and inventorying stock, supplies, and equipment essential for the ongoing operations of the commissary and general facility functions.

  • Under the guidance of the supervisor, ensures the accurate and timely receipt, routing, and storage of goods and cleaning supplies, adhering to appropriate sanitation standards and applicable regulations. Prepares materials for dispatch as necessary.
  • Conducts sales transactions within the commissary, processes inmate/resident order forms, performs data entry, and verifies as well as delivers pulled orders to the designated inmate.
  • Maintains current facility and warehouse inventories of all furniture, equipment, and supplies. Monitors commissary merchandise to uphold minimum and maximum inventory levels as required.
  • Accurately prepares a variety of records and reports as needed. Organizes and maintains files systematically, including sorting, labeling, filing, and retrieving documents while ensuring confidentiality and security of records.
  • Effectively communicates with administration, staff, inmates/residents, and visitors, especially in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness, and sound judgment. This includes providing information, instructions, and directions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conducts counts of inmates/residents working in the area, manages access to equipment and supplies, and prevents the introduction of contraband items into the facility living areas through proper search protocols.
  • Provides supervision and guidance for assigned inmates/residents in executing their responsibilities. Coordinates the movement of inmates/residents to and from various areas.

Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma, GED certification, or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in warehouse/commissary operations, including the physical handling and movement of inventory, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating hand trucks, forklifts, and/or pallet jacks is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
