Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team at St. David's South Austin Medical Center. As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to expectant mothers and their families during this critical time.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and provide patient care for all assigned patients, including initial and ongoing assessment, development of individualized patient care plans, and facilitation of discharge planning and teaching.
  • Conduct admission interviews, document patient assessments, and identify changes in patient condition, reporting promptly to physicians or charge nurses as needed.
  • Assess and document patient educational needs and instructions given upon admission and throughout hospitalization, providing psychological and social support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning, accurately administer and document medications, and keep physicians and Clinical Nurse Coordinators informed of significant patient information or changes.
  • Continuously evaluate the plan of care to determine need for modifications, providing individualized nursing interventions based on the plan of care and documenting patient responses to interventions.
Requirements
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License; Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required per St. David's Healthcare policy
  • Registered Nurse, Certified in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) preferred
