Job Overview

We are a growing commercial real estate firm in The Woodlands, Texas, seeking an experienced Property Accountant to manage our financial portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the accounting for multiple commercial properties, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and tenant billing.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, ensuring accurate income, expense, and property performance metrics reporting.
  • Lease Administration: Track lease agreements, ensuring accurate rent, CAM (Common Area Maintenance), and other reimbursable charges billing.
  • Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank account, tenant deposit, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with annual property budget preparation and forecasts, ensuring accurate financial projections.
  • Variance Analysis: Provide detailed variance analysis between actual and budgeted financials, highlighting performance insights and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Tax Compliance: Support property tax filings and regulatory compliance activities as needed.
  • Audit Support: Assist in preparing materials for internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of accounting experience in commercial real estate or property management accounting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, real estate financials, and property accounting software (Yardi, MRI, or similar).
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all accounting aspects.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to identify issues, provide solutions, and improve processes.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with teams and partners.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactivity: Self-motivated, with strong desire to contribute to team success and improve operations.

Compensation:

  • The estimated salary for this position is approximately $90,000 per year, based on industry standards and market conditions.
