Cardiac Sonographer

Overview
Tufts Medical Center seeks a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing cardiac ultrasound examinations using various modalities, including m-mode, 2-D, 3-D, and Doppler techniques.
Responsibilities
- Perform cardiac ultrasound examinations, providing preliminary interpretation of study results to cardiologists.
- Assist physicians in obtaining transesophageal, intraoperative, and three-dimensional studies.
- Prepare patients for exams, explaining procedures and obtaining clinical information from patient charts.
- Maintain equipment, following infection control practices and ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance, contributing to the development of teaching files and training new sonographers.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Science or equivalent.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification within one year of hire.
- One year of clinical experience in cardiac ultrasound.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science.
- Two years of clinical experience in cardiac ultrasound.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, occasional sitting and walking, lifting of 30-35 lbs.
- Pushing, pulling and moving stretchers and ultrasound machines.
- Manual dexterity required for operating transducers, ultrasound equipment and computer keyboard.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to evaluate laboratory data and tailor exams to individual patients.
- Ability to perform exams in Doppler, M-mode, B-scan and real-time modalities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
