We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Sonographer to join our team at Tufts Medicine. As a Clinical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients.
About the Role:The Clinical Sonographer will work under the direction of the supervising clinical leader to perform all phases of cardiac ultrasound studies in a safe, accurate, and timely manner. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing and interpreting diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures
- Maintaining equipment in a clean and orderly condition and following infection control practices
- Preparing patients for exams and explaining procedures to patients and their families
- Obtaining and recording data for research projects
- Assisting physicians in obtaining transesophageal, intraoperative, and three-dimensional studies
- Maintaining a good working knowledge of charging and billing processes
As a Clinical Sonographer, you will be responsible for:
- Performing cardiac ultrasound examinations using m-mode, 2-D, 3-D, and Doppler techniques
- Giving preliminary interpretation of study results to cardiologists
- Performing echocardiograms and echos in the echocardiography laboratory, cardiac catheterization laboratory, intensive care unit, or ward units
- Assisting physicians in obtaining transesophageal, intraoperative, and three-dimensional studies
- Assisting physicians in obtaining and recording data for research projects
- Maintaining equipment in a clean and orderly condition and following infection control practices
- Preparing patients for exams and explaining procedures to patients and their families
- Obtaining and recording data for research projects
- Assisting supervisor in the technical training of new sonographers and/or interns
- Developing and maintaining a teaching file system
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's degree in Radiologic Science
- Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within one year of hire
- One (1) year of clinical experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science is preferred
- Two (2) years of clinical experience is preferred
You will need to possess:
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Proficient in small parts, venous, and carotid ultrasounds and procedures requiring ultrasound guidance
- Ability to perform exams in Doppler, M-mode, B-scan, and real-time modalities
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time under various conditions while acquiring diagnostic information
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area
- Ability to work independently to perform exams and will seek out assistance from others and supervisor as necessary
- Displays good judgment and works through a problem with creativity and remains focused and professional
- Responds to change and/or stats in work scheduling in a calm and appropriate manner
- Demonstrates cooperation with co-workers and management to ensure an atmosphere that is conducive to high-quality patient care
- Attention to detail is required for ensuring patient education, safety, comfort, as well as discussing clinical situations with physicians
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
