Senior Metals Sales and Structuring Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Metals Sales and Structuring Specialist to join our team at BMO Financial Group. As a key member of our metals sales and structuring team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives, structuring deals, and providing exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the growth and development of the BMO and BMO Capital Markets brand through community engagement and presence.
- Operate as a key member of the deal team, maximizing sector penetration and returns.
- Institute cross-selling initiatives to increase client ranking.
- Manage a client book, ensuring risk, profit, and loss, and limits are met.
- Provide comprehensive account coverage and client development, actively prospecting new clients to increase revenue in the assigned territory.
- Maintain strong relationships with investors, understanding their portfolio, and matching firm services and products to client needs.
- Work closely with sales, trading, and research teams to provide seamless client coverage, including fulfilling client requests for market updates and providing clients with specific product information.
- Respond to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in a professional manner, determining acceptable solutions.
- Contact customers to present available investment services and develop client prospects from among current customers, referral leads, and other sources.
- Build positive client relations through a deep understanding of client needs and alignment of our products and services.
- Identify and leverage key decision-makers and influencers in client and internal organizations.
- Develop and/or facilitate the development of client-focused solutions based on financial expertise, organizational, technical, regulatory, and environmental client awareness.
- Distill market and internal data to negotiate solutions, terms, and conditions with clients and internal counterparts.
- Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients, acting as a positive change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Verify that all confirms on trades or sales are accurate and promptly delivered.
- Communicate transaction details to the brokerage community and custodians, resolving settlement issues related to incorrect billing.
- Develop strong market knowledge to provide comprehensive service to clients, develop new solutions, and construct compelling recommendations.
- Read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents to better serve client needs.
- Develop marketing ideas and help initiate transactions through the appropriate presentation of financial data.
- Help determine business priorities and the best sequence for the execution of business/group strategy.
- Develop and leverage relationships across businesses, senior leaders, and clients to foster and support coordination.
- Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
- Cultivate strong relationships with the research team to understand their industries and stock coverage.
- Use analytical skills (probability, statistical inference, etc.) and apply appropriate technical concepts to complete/lead consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Develop an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models.
- Support change management of varying scope and type, focusing on execution and sustainment activities.
- Help colleagues with the presentation of information and prepare proposals for their review.
- Assist colleagues in the research and resolution of administrative/operational issues.
- Understand the complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
- Maintain and develop knowledge of client systems/applications and the internal web-based research document database.
- Execute orders for the purchase or sale of securities or complete transactions independently if the brokerage firm is a market maker in the requested transaction. All transactions must be recorded accurately and frequently reviewed for accuracy.
- Receive and review all transactions to ensure accuracy and that transactions conform to the regulations of the SEC, NASD, and other regulatory agencies.
- Track supply and demand and evaluate market development.
- Operate within position and loss limits as prudent management of the Bank's exposure.
- Manage risk related to pricing and sales/trading of the book.
- Balance the Bank's risk appetite with client needs in making recommendations/proposals.
- Manage the firm's risk and take action to reduce exposure in developing and delivering client strategies, including the development of hedging and trading strategies.
- Identify opportunities to find more cost-effective ways to impact the bottom line and drive profitability.
- Consider risk, internal controls, and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have a broader, enterprise-wide focus.
- Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support.
- Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
- Work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations.
- Broad work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
- Product Structuring and Promotion:
Innovate bespoke derivative and financing structures/solutions for clients throughout the entire metals supply chain.
Qualifications- Typically between 7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree in Accounting/Economics/Mathematics/Statistics, CFA preferred, MBA optional.
- Thorough knowledge of capital markets, pricing, and sales/trading/hedging strategies.
- Strong understanding of broader regulatory and financial concepts.
- Series 7, 63, and 55 licenses required.
- Advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client/major initiative.
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Strong risk management skills.
- Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Base Salary for this role in New York is $250,000.00 USD.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.
Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the number of hours regularly worked.
For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
