Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards and position patients according to the type of surgery.
  • Under the direction of a professional nurse, perform all processes related to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior to and during any surgical procedure.
  • Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed by the physician.
  • Cooperate in team planning and execution, demonstrating clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Maintain proper traffic control, dress codes, and adherence to OR sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with facility policy and procedure regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of all instruments and supplies that are processed within the facility.
  • Adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of the Surgical Technology program is required.
  • 2 or more years of experience preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
