Kansas City Missouri, United States Children's Mercy KC Full time

Welcome to Children's Mercy:

Are you looking for a fulfilling position within a diverse and caring environment? At Children's Mercy, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of children and providing hope to the families we support.

Our team members are the heart of our organization, which is why we have been consistently recognized as a leading pediatric hospital by U.S. News & World Report for over a decade.

Located in the vibrant Kansas City area, we are surrounded by rich cultural experiences, dynamic communities, and flourishing businesses.

This is where our patients and families thrive, and we are committed to giving back to the community that supports us.

As a prominent leader in pediatric healthcare, we engage in significant initiatives and collaborations throughout the region to enhance the well-being of children beyond our hospital's walls.

Position Overview:

This role involves partnering with local nursing schools to facilitate student clinical and educational experiences at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics.

At Children's Mercy, we prioritize creating an inclusive atmosphere for everyone.

The ideal candidate will contribute to our mission of fostering a workplace that mirrors the community we serve, aligned with our core values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, teamwork, and integrity.

We also want to be transparent with all prospective candidates regarding our employment requirements.

To ensure the safety of our patients, families, and staff, the seasonal influenza vaccine is mandatory for all employees.

New hires must be prepared to provide proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chicken pox (varicella), and/or evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.

If selected for this role, you will need to submit your immunization records as verification of vaccination.

Should you have any concerns regarding these vaccinations, medical and/or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist students in acquiring vital pediatric nursing knowledge and skills to deliver safe, high-quality care to patients and families.

Design and implement effective pediatric learning experiences in collaboration with faculty from designated nursing schools.

Foster and maintain positive professional relationships among clinical staff, leadership, and students.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required, with enrollment in a Master's program (preferred) or a healthcare-related Master's program.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pediatric nursing (hospital or outpatient setting) is essential.

Licensure Requirements:
A valid RN license in Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License for Kansas, or RN Compact license for states other than KS and MO is required upon hire.

Additional Licensure:
A valid RN license in Missouri or Registered Nurse Multistate License for Missouri is required upon hire.

Refer to the Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications upon hire.

Benefits at Children's Mercy:

Our benefits plans are one of the many reasons we are recognized as a top employer in Kansas City.

These plans are designed to adapt to the evolving needs of our employees and their families.

Compensation:
The pay structure for this position is competitive within the market.

The starting pay for this role begins at $33.33 per hour, with the final offer determined by your qualifications and experience.

Work Environment:

This position requires on-site work at one of our Children's Mercy locations, and remote work is not an option.

Equal Employment Opportunity:

Children's Mercy is committed to hiring individuals based on their skills, expertise, and ability to maintain professional relationships with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors.

Factors such as personal interviews, formal education, training, previous work experience, references, and background checks are all considered in selecting the best candidates.

We do not discriminate against prospective or current employees based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, creed, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ancestry, or veteran status.

A drug screening will be conducted upon hire. Children's Mercy maintains a smoke and tobacco-free environment.

Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion:
Children's Mercy is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our patients and families come from various backgrounds, and so do we.

We recognize that our greatest strengths lie in the diverse individuals who comprise our team, and we hire exceptional people from a wide range of backgrounds, not only because it is the right thing to do but because it enhances our hospital's strength and the compassion of our patient care.

If you share our values and passion for service, you will find a welcoming home at Children's Mercy.

In our recruitment efforts, we embrace the unique contributions you can bring, including education, ideas, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, national origin, age, languages spoken, veteran status, color, religion, disability, and beliefs.
