Job Title: Health Program Specialist I

Job Summary:

The Department of Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Health Program Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our Health in All Policies (HiAP) Partnership and the Healing, Equity for all, Anti-Racism, and Trauma-responsive transformation (HEART) Initiative, you will serve as a technical consultant and subject matter expert, working on sensitive and complex projects to support the California HiAP Task Force and Capitol Collaborative on Race and Equity (CCORE), and to support the Department of Public Health in integrating Health in All Policies and racial and health equity approaches across program areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and support to the Health in All Policies (HiAP) Partnership and the HEART Initiative.
  • Work closely with the California HiAP Task Force and Capitol Collaborative on Race and Equity (CCORE) to develop and implement policies and programs that promote health equity and address social determinants of health.
  • Collaborate with departmental staff to integrate Health in All Policies and racial and health equity approaches across program areas.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and other state agencies.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to departmental staff and external partners on Health in All Policies and racial and health equity approaches.

Requirements:

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public health, health education, or a related field.
  • Must have at least two years of experience in a related field, such as health education, health promotion, or health policy.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.

Working Conditions:

This position is located in Sacramento, California, and requires regular travel to other locations throughout the state. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
