Job Title: Health Program Specialist II

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high degree of independence, initiative, and creativity in performing assignments. As a Health Program Specialist II, you will work with the Program Review Branch (PRB) to ensure the accuracy and integrity of Medi-Cal eligibility determinations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with federal and state audits performed by oversight agencies, including the triennial Payment Error Rate Measurement (PERM) review and the Medi-Cal Eligibility Quality Control pilot programs.
  • Provide responses to questions from external auditors and assist with reports required by these programs.
  • Work with the Branch's County Oversight and Monitoring Section (COMS) on federal and state audits, and assist with the resumption of county-focused reviews and socializing new oversight and monitoring activities resulting from the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) initiative.
  • Collaborate with the COMS section chief on special projects assigned to the section, requiring a high degree of knowledge of the Medicaid program and understanding of federal and state auditing practices.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in healthcare or government.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel 10% or less of the time, with occasional overnight stays.
