The Department of Public Health is seeking a highly skilled Health Program Specialist I to serve as a technical consultant and subject matter expert for the Health in All Policies (HiAP) Partnership and the Healing, Equity for all, Anti-Racism, and Trauma-responsive transformation (HEART) Initiative.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise and support to the California HiAP Task Force and Capitol Collaborative on Race and Equity (CCORE) on sensitive and complex projects.
- Work closely with the Health Program Manager II to integrate Health in All Policies and racial and health equity approaches across program areas.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote health equity and reduce health disparities in California.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address health inequities and promote policy changes that support health equity.
- Provide training and technical assistance to state and local agencies on health equity and HiAP principles.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public health, health education, or a related field.
- Must have at least two years of experience in a related field, such as health education, health promotion, or health policy.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a strong understanding of health equity and HiAP principles.
The Health Program Specialist I will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
