The YMCA of Greater Long Beach is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Director to lead our aquatic programs and team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating aquatic programs that promote youth development, healthy living, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage aquatic programs, including swim lessons, water safety programs, and school swim collaborations.
- Oversee the daily operations of our outdoor year-round pool, ensuring compliance with state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop staff and volunteers to support aquatic programs.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Collaborate with community organizations to promote aquatic programs and services.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote aquatic programs and services.
- Ensure accurate records of staff certifications, pool chemical levels, and facility maintenance.
- Conduct lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid, and CPR trainings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency action plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Two or more years of experience working in an aquatic facility, with at least one year of experience in a management role.
- Completion of YMCA-specific and aquatic trainer certifications, including Lifeguard Certification, CPR-PRO, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid.
- Ability to exercise effective, independent judgment and work with limited supervision.
- Computer literacy with strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to anticipate, initiate, and structure work to be performed.
- Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and background clearance.
- Health screening with negative TB test and negative drug test screening.
- Complete all required online trainings.
- Mission Advancement: Models and teaches the Y's values, ensuring a high level of service with a commitment to changing lives.
- Collaboration: Champions inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives, building relationships to create small communities.
- Operational Effectiveness: Provides others with frameworks for making decisions, conducts prototypes to support the launching of programs and activities.
- Personal Growth: Shares new insights, facilitates change, and models adaptability and awareness of the impact of change.
