We are seeking a Child Development Specialist to join our team in Valhalla, NY. This is a part-time position that offers a competitive salary range of $17-$21 per hour.

About the Role:

Job Summary

The Child Development Specialist will assist the After School Coordinator in developing, directing, and supervising daily activity programs for children. The successful candidate will create a warm, caring, and safe environment to support children in ways that improve the overall quality of care and education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer direct supervision of children at Easter Seals and at school sites.
  • Generate age-appropriate lesson plans for each area of instruction.
  • Ensure safety and promote active learning through age-appropriate activities and play.
  • Setup appropriate study group homework incentives.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Maintain required in-service training hours.
  • Administer scheduled snacks.
  • Complete accurate incident reports when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation, or a related field, or School-age Childcare Credential, or other office-recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period, and one year of experience working with children less than 13 years of age, or a High School diploma or its equivalent, and two years of direct experience working with children under 13 years of age.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a New York State Student Employment Certificate if under 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are a plus.
