Theater and Performance Project Manager

Newfields is seeking a highly skilled Theater and Performance Project Manager to join our Public Programs team. This role will be responsible for managing theater and performance-based public program offerings, including setting goals, managing engagements, and coordinating partnerships and residencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set SMART goals for theater and performance-based public program offerings in alignment with institutional priorities and values.
  • Manage theater engagements within the Tripleseat booking system, communicate with departments, and ensure a balanced calendar of events.
  • Make connections to permanent collection and special exhibitions by engaging local artists, community organizations, and performers.
  • Train on institutional and department budgeting and contract process, and support the Public Programs Administrative Coordinator and legal and finance teams.
  • Coordinate theater-based partnerships and residencies, track agreement deadlines, and ensure all impacted departments and clients are providing and receiving necessary information.
  • Document and maintain theater standard operating procedures for internal departments and external partner and client use.
  • Support the Public Programs team as needed, including program preparation and staffing on nights, weekends, holidays, and offsite experiences.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong understanding of Excel, and other software commonly used at Newfields.
  • Strong writing skills, ability to draft clear, original correspondence, and program copy for Newfields' publications and marketing.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations, and to large groups in a program setting.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, meet defined deadlines, and follow-up with assigned tasks.
  • Basic familiarity with Newfields' permanent collection and special exhibitions, working theater facilities.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other Skills and Abilities - Exceptional interpersonal skills, basic understanding of public relations fundamentals, and demonstrated experience working as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma and 4 years of program experience or bachelor's degree and 2 years of program experience required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position will have a dedicated work station in a shared work space without windows, as well as a mobile work station for program days.
