Job Summary:

The City of Richmond Department of Planning & Development Review is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Program and Operations Supervisor - Commercial Plan Review. This role will oversee the financial and operational aspects of an assigned program, providing first-level supervision of employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff, implement program goals, objectives, and standards, and plan and monitor programs for progress towards objectives.
  • Oversee changes in policies and procedures, oversee the maintenance of equipment, participate in special projects, and oversee daily accounting and procurement functions.
  • Coordinate with clients, peers, the community, and other agencies, manage contracts, and financial and performance data.
  • Prepare reports, review submitted plans for compliance with building and trade construction codes, interpret information shown on plans, and determine if construction adheres to applicable codes.
  • Meet with engineers, owners, and contractors to communicate plan reviews, prepare letters and reports, and coordinate the permit process to facilitate timely reviews by other employees and departments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, building construction, public administration, or a related field.
  • Four years of journey-level professional experience in an area related to the assignment.
  • Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) or ICC certifications for Commercial Building Plans Examiner, Commercial Energy Plans Examiner, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, or Fire Protection Plans Examiner.
