As a Fire Protection Technician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive service, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment. This encompasses a wide range of systems, including portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, fire and gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, gaseous suppression systems, and water-based fire protection systems.

Essential Duties:
  • Conduct thorough shop service and/or field inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair (if certified) of fire equipment. This includes customer portable and fixed fire extinguisher systems and components, lifesaving and navigation aid equipment, fixed breathing air systems, fire detection and alarm system components, fixed gas detection systems components, and foam, dry chemical, gaseous fire suppression systems and components, as well as water-based fire protection systems.
  • Meticulously complete all documentation associated with inspections and repairs in a timely and accurate manner. Obtain customer signatures to ensure proper invoicing and documentation.
  • Develop expertise in conducting detailed visual inspections and system functional tests of various systems and equipment. Report any deficiencies and provide corrective action recommendations to customers.
  • Effectively communicate through pre-job, job updates, and post-job completion briefs.
  • Assist colleagues in facilities by stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready-to-use equipment, pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and other designated areas.
  • Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicles and/or trailers.
  • Acquire proficiency in rigging up and using a wide range of safety equipment, including retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards.
Skills and Experience:
  • One year of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate electronic safety equipment and understand fire systems and components.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, reassemble, and test electronic safety equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Capacity to troubleshoot and diagnose assigned equipment problems and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
  • Knowledge of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities; i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc.
  • Familiarity with applicable Code of Federal Regulations. Coast Guard and ABS regulations where relevant.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
