Position Overview:
The Financial Support Specialist for Emergency Services plays a crucial role in assisting patients seeking care in our Emergency departments. This position guides individuals through the financial processes from the Medical Screening Examination (MSE) to either discharge or admission. The specialist is integral to the financial office, serving as a resource for colleagues and ensuring seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Verify patient benefits and eligibility, facilitating authorization from insurance providers and medical groups.
2. Gather necessary documentation to support authorization requests effectively.
3. Maintain continuous communication with insurance payers, primary care physicians, and RN service coordinators as required.
4. Develop and implement financial agreements with patients and payers in accordance with organizational policies.
5. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the financial office.

Qualifications:
1. A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
2. A minimum of three years of experience in hospital-based registration, particularly in Managed Care, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and California Children's Services, is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
1. Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
2. Proficient in written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
3. Competence in using computer systems, including Microsoft applications and patient accounting software.
4. Ability to operate basic office equipment and troubleshoot when necessary.
5. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
6. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
