We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Charge Nurse to join our team at Wellstar Health System, Inc. As a Charge Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and leading a team of healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:- Rounds on every patient daily to evaluate quality and appropriateness of patient care, taking corrective action when needed.
- Performs or provides oversight for the Nursing Process, utilizing evidence-based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
- Provides or provides oversight for relationship-based care delivery, partnering with patients and significant others to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.
- Practices using current clinical practice standards, focusing on safety and quality.
- Communicates with nurse manager and/or assistant nurse manager regarding care delivery or employee performance.
- Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care, promoting interdisciplinary communication and regular interdisciplinary planning/rounds.
- Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Ensures patient/family/staff confidentiality and corporate compliance, completing all required mandatory education and proficiencies.
- Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses, ensuring a current and future qualified workforce and modeling the professional practice of nursing.
- Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing, participating in activities such as value analysis.
- Upholds all healthcare system/organizational policies and procedures, clinical competencies, and professional association standards, ensuring goals such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems' safety absolutes.
- Monitors equipment inventory, location, and utilization to ensure staff have necessary tools and equipment.
- Participates in planning and requesting resources for providing high-quality care and assists in acquiring appropriate staffing during unexpected shortages or surges in census.
- Makes patient assignments, considering new graduates, float, and patient type.
- Conducts daily discharge/length of stay review and rounds with physicians/surgeons.
- Assigns surgery beds and consults with supervisor nursing administration on bed flow and availability.
