Position Overview:
The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization in providing essential support to individuals affected by loss, trauma, and mental health challenges.

Compensation:
Salary range of $150,000 to $175,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt role with a hybrid work arrangement.

About Us:
The Wendt Center is dedicated to assisting children, youth, and adults in reconstructing their emotional well-being following experiences of loss, illness, violence, and trauma. Established in 1975, we have become a vital resource in the Greater Washington area, recognized nationally for our expertise in grief, trauma, and mental health services.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive range of holistic services to children, teens, adults, families, and the broader community, particularly focusing on underserved populations. Services are offered on a sliding scale or at no cost for eligible individuals through grants, with many insurance plans accepted.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management:
    Oversee the creation and execution of the annual budget, ensuring fiscal integrity and compliance with all financial policies.
  • Fundraising:
    Develop and implement strategies to secure funding from various sources, including government grants, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
  • Program Development:
    Lead the enhancement and implementation of programs that address community needs, ensuring high-quality service delivery through effective evaluation.
  • Public Relations:
    Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, promoting our mission and services through various communication channels.
  • Board Collaboration:
    Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure strategic alignment and effective governance.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A profound commitment to the mission of the Wendt Center.
  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven operational leadership skills with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Successful fundraising experience and the ability to represent the organization externally.
  • Strong communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
