We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Bayhealth. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Laboratory Section Supervisor and/or Laboratory Manager in the operational and/or technical management of assigned section(s).
The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist will ensure proper day-to-day operations of the laboratory discipline(s) and serve as a resource person for problem-solving. They will respond to changes in workload as necessary and lead adjustments in work assignments in real-time fashion in the absence of the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure timely and efficient specimen handling, delivery, specimen testing, results reporting, and customer service.
- Work independently in cooperation with the Laboratory Section Supervisor or Laboratory Manager and/or Out Patient Service Center Manager (if applicable).
- May be designated to serve as acting supervisor in the absence of a supervisor.
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including 16 semester hours of biological science and 16 semester hours of chemistry.
- Three years' experience as a medical laboratory scientist or clinical laboratory scientist.
- MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), or CLS (NCA) or equivalent certification.
- Normal color perception.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Fluently speaks, reads, and writes in the English language.
- Excellent ability to manage personnel and workflow.
