Bayhealth is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services, including specimen handling, testing, and results reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the operational and technical management of assigned sections, ensuring proper day-to-day operations and serving as a resource person for problem-solving.
- Respond to changes in workload and lead adjustments in work assignments in real-time fashion, ensuring timely and efficient specimen handling, testing, and results reporting.
- Oversee the maintenance of reagent logs, ensure adequate stock of supplies, and coordinate instrument service calls.
- Assign tasks to staff, provide training and competency assessments, and participate in the selection of personnel.
- Emphasize a culture of safety by ensuring adherence to Infection Control and Safety protocols, maintaining Hazardous Chemical logs, and ensuring MSD sheets are readily available.
- Review regulatory standards, identify non-compliance, and ensure proficiency test results are accurately submitted.
- Perform statistical analysis, calibrate instruments, and monitor patient results, QC, and reagent lot rollovers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field, including 16 semester hours of biological science, 16 semester hours of chemistry, and one semester of mathematics.
Credential(s): Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Experience:
Required: Three years of relevant experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent position in a high-complexity laboratory.
Preferred:
Five years of relevant experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent position in a high-complexity laboratory.
