The Legion Corporation in Washington is seeking a seasoned Business Improvement District (BID) Supervisor to lead its security team. As BID Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the security operations of the BID, ensuring public safety, and maintaining a secure environment.

About the Position

This is a leadership role that requires strong operational management, stakeholder engagement, and a data-driven approach to crime prevention. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a security team, developing and implementing emergency response plans, and analyzing incident data to inform security strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and manage the security team, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage.
    • Develop and implement training programs for security personnel, including de-escalation tactics, public relations, and emergency response.
    • Create and maintain shift schedules to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
  • Operational Planning and Coordination:
    • Oversee the planning and execution of security operations, including foot or vehicle patrols, to deter crime and ensure a visible security presence.
    • Develop and implement protocols for handling incidents, including theft, vandalism, trespassing, or emergencies.
    • Maintain accurate records of incidents, daily activity logs, and security operations reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Act as a liaison between the Legion Corporation, local businesses, property owners, and the security team, addressing their security concerns and providing updates on safety initiatives.
    • Foster positive relationships with residents, visitors, and community members to promote a safe and welcoming environment.
    • Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies for incident escalation, intelligence sharing, and joint initiatives.
  • Policy and Procedure Development:
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local laws and BID regulations.
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans for situations such as natural disasters, protests, or large public events.
    • Identify vulnerabilities within the BID and propose measures to mitigate risks.
  • Public Safety and Crime Prevention:
    • Work proactively to prevent crime through visible security presence and strategic patrolling.
    • Monitor security systems and tools to identify and respond to potential threats.
    • Attend retail theft meetings and other safety and security meetings, and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure the security team complies with local ordinances, labor laws, and Legion Corporation-specific policies.
    • Accurately document and investigate incidents, providing reports to relevant authorities or leadership.
    • Review all incident reports and DARs.
