Position Summary:
We are in search of a qualified or entry-level Power Systems Engineer.

The selected candidate will primarily provide project management and engineering assistance for LG&E and KU Distribution Substation initiatives.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring project budgets and expenditures, reviewing and updating design standards and equipment specifications, assisting field maintenance teams in resolving non-routine technical and reliability challenges, and completing incident investigation reports along with follow-up tasks.

The position will be filled based on the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee project and construction management for assigned capital projects.

Accountable for ensuring projects are executed safely and efficiently, within scope and schedule, while adhering to all safety policies and standards.


Develop project scope and construction cost estimates for distribution substation capital construction projects and prepare Authorizations for Investment Proposals.

Create construction and design drawings for substation expansion projects in collaboration with an internal drafting team.

Coordinate the procurement of project materials.

Ensure accurate updates to asset databases including Cascade and Powerbase.

Complete protective relay settings and verify coordination with other protective devices.

Manage project budgets to ensure adherence to commitments, explain variances and discrepancies, and complete monthly variance and reforecasting on projects.

Maintain and update major equipment specifications and Distribution Substation Construction and Design Standards.

Assist various operations and maintenance teams with engineering-based problem identification, analysis, and resolution.

Conduct root cause analysis and incident investigations for significant events and provide follow-up recommendations.

Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education Requirements

ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.

Preferred Qualifications


Familiarity with or ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office applications, ORACLE Applications, Cascade, Powerbase, and DrawDT, along with related corporate information systems.

Completion of coursework in power systems analysis.
