We are in search of a dedicated and skilled individual to take on the role of Aerospace Systems Engineer. In this position, you will report directly to the Director of Engineering and will be instrumental in guiding our technical initiatives and journey into space. As an early team member, you will have the unique opportunity to shape your role and contribute to the foundational aspects of our company as we expand.

Location: Our operations are being established in a vibrant aerospace community, with considerations for remote work arrangements initially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, allocate, and uphold: Technical budgets for system performance; system requirements and verification methodologies; simulations and analyses across vehicle functionalities; testing procedures and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop interface specifications, operational concepts, safety protocols, and other essential systems engineering documentation.
  • Lead the planning and execution of assembly, integration, and testing processes with suppliers, partners, and clients.
  • Prepare presentations to communicate Systems Engineering artifacts to company leadership and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate initiative and hands-on engagement, thriving in a dynamic and sometimes unpredictable startup atmosphere.

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite for this position.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a spacecraft systems engineer, with prior experience in the new space economy being advantageous.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Familiarity with key spacecraft subsystems and their components, including: Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS); thermal management; Electrical Power Systems (EPS); space-ground communication; Command and Data Handling (C&DH); propulsion systems.
  • Practical experience with various life cycles: Business development; mission planning; requirements generation and integration; testing and validation; on-orbit operations including ground systems.
  • Proven track record of responsibility for space hardware missions and effective communication with all levels of management and team members.
  • Experience in launching and/or operating space missions is essential; lunar mission experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with essential tools for space systems engineering, including: MATLAB; Python; STK; JAMA or DOORS; Mechanical CAD is a plus.
  • A proactive approach and ability to work independently with minimal oversight on projects.
  • Security clearance, veteran status, and/or advanced degrees are preferred.
  • Exemplary integrity, ethics, and interpersonal skills are essential.
