GENERAL OVERVIEW

The role involves delivering crisis intervention, expert consultation, and comprehensive level of care assessments for individuals and providers in need of services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PROFESSIONAL DUTIES:

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures established by the Acute Care Division and the Brien Center.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions.
  • Represent the Brien Center with professionalism in community engagements.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of the Brien Center and the principles of community mental health.
  • Respond flexibly to the evolving needs of the program.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and team members.

CLINICAL DUTIES:

  • Provide respectful and compassionate treatment to patients and referral sources.
  • Manage incoming crisis calls and referrals with efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough diagnostic assessments, including risk evaluations and level of care recommendations.
  • Deliver specialized assessments and interventions for children and families.
  • Handle crisis situations and other emergencies as assigned.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Brien Center colleagues and other community service organizations.
  • Offer clinical consultation and supportive services in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, and schools.
  • Provide case management and follow-up services for patients assessed by the Crisis Service.
  • Facilitate authorization and utilization reviews, collaborating with insurance providers as necessary.
  • Guide the admission process for hospital, respite, detox, and outpatient care.
  • Evaluate patients referred from higher levels of care for suitability for admissions and reassess as needed.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

  • Maintain accurate and legible client records, ensuring timely documentation.
  • Submit necessary documentation at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Engage in clinical supervision on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and agency training sessions.
  • Attend provider meetings and case supervision as directed by leadership.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to new hires as assigned.
  • Oversee student interns as directed by leadership.
  • Cover shifts as needed.
  • Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in case supervision activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD, MSW, or a Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing, or a related clinical field.
  • LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC credentials preferred.
  • 2-3 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Exceptional oral and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and quick decision-making skills in clinical situations.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Familiarity with DSM IV.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
