Job Overview:
This role is pivotal in supporting the production of Electron-beam Physical Vapor Deposition (EBPVD) coating targets. We seek a versatile engineering professional eager to drive swift process enhancements while ensuring quality standards are upheld. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments, including maintenance, planning, accounting, and research & development. In addition to optimizing existing processes, you will lead capital projects aimed at expanding manufacturing capabilities.

Manufacturing Responsibilities:

This role entails overseeing process control, optimizing raw material yields, and minimizing manufacturing defects throughout the production cycle.

You will collaborate with production planning, manufacturing, and maintenance teams to support production targets while enhancing product yields.


Address manufacturing defects on a daily basis and implement long-term yield improvement strategies, including slurry mixing, spray drying, isostatic pressing, and machining of ceramic components.


Provide hands-on support to manufacturing and maintenance teams on the production floor to identify process improvement opportunities and execute solutions.

Participate in cost control initiatives and standardize processes and procedures.

Engage regularly with production staff to assess and resolve production challenges while advising on process capabilities and customer requirements.


Project Management:
Identify and pursue projects that necessitate expertise and judgment to navigate various variables.


Projects typically represent significant assignments aligned with annual plant objectives and may involve new products or processes and/or capability expansions.

You will provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel, including technicians, leads, and operators.


Plan, design, and participate in the execution of both capital and non-capital projects across any technical area of the facility.

Enhance manufacturing capabilities, process control, product quality, and manage fixed or variable costs.

Collaborate with research and development, production teams, and other support departments to ensure successful project completion.

Oversee various capital project activities.


Prepare and present project reports to communicate progress and developments to relevant manufacturing personnel and management.


Documentation and Training:

Lead, guide, and train personnel on new processes, equipment, and procedures as necessary while maintaining and updating existing process documentation.

Manage and direct efforts to generate quality data and ensure effective information flow.

Encourage data acquisition, analytics, digital solutions, and automation.

Conduct statistical analyses of process variables and rejection rates, interpret data, and spearhead resulting process and product enhancement initiatives. Develop, implement, and oversee essential quality and process control protocols.

Development Initiatives:

Collaborate closely with management to assist in the development and testing of new products and processes prior to their introduction into production.

Support the ongoing continuous improvement program.

Initiate and maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN) to document and manage changes in specifications, processes, and procedures.

Maintain technical proficiency.

Corporate Responsibility:
Support all ISO activities.


Ensure compliance with relevant corporate and governmental guidelines, rules, and regulations regarding proper business controls, legal, and environmental health and safety issues.


Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Material Science (Ceramic preferred), Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering - Required

Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Required

Demonstrated understanding of statistical methods, particularly relating to Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Six Sigma principles - Preferred

3-5 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment - Required.

1-3 Years of management experience - Preferred
