Job Description

Progen Industries Llc is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering department. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on a project from the initial brief through the design and development stage, to the testing of one or more prototypes, right through to final manufacture and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
  • Develop project specifications with colleagues, including those from other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop, test, and evaluate theoretical designs.
  • Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ensure products can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Plan and design new production processes.
  • Produce details of specifications and outline designs.
  • Recommend modifications following prototype test results.
  • Use research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling and computer-aided design.
  • Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety, and time constraints.
  • Work with other professionals, within and outside the engineering sector.
  • Monitor and commission plants and systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the area of engineering, with power generation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D design tools such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, Adobe, and Microsoft products.
  • Core competencies in ASME, ASTM, ANSI Standard, and UL Standards.
  • Ability to size equipment.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
