Job Summary

As a Part Time Speech Language Pathologist Pediatrics at Spectrum Health, you will provide therapy to patients based on patient need and medical direction. You will also provide patient/caregiver education and arrange for adaptive equipment as needed. Additionally, you will participate and complete all required components of a structured residency program.

Essential Functions
  • Perform evaluation procedures to assess the level of disability with regard to scope of practice, goals, and a plan of treatment, and to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Provide a treatment program and education to restore and return maximal function to the patient. Assess the effectiveness of treatment and modify goals/treatment methods as needed to meet changing needs.
  • Document evaluation and treatment of each patient in compliance with department standards, medical-legal, and reimbursement procedures.
  • Instruct and train other rehabilitation staff, nursing, other medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and rehabilitation services.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement, patient satisfaction initiatives/improvement, program development, and marketing activities.
  • Demonstrate productivity as indicated by department standards.
  • Improve skill areas by applying continuing education in-services, participating in competencies in applicable areas, and developing new concepts of patient care and additional skills with various population groups.
  • Specific to Residency Program:
    • Attend all required residency meetings and functions as outlined in the Speech Therapy Residency Manual.
    • Complete assigned learning requirements as outlined in the Speech Therapy Residency Manual.
    • Ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements.
    • Ensure that documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree, Graduate of accredited speech therapy program.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree, Graduate of accredited speech therapy program.
  • Preferred: Doctorate, Graduate of accredited speech therapy program.
  • 2 years of relevant experience, may be part of clinical education experience, preferred.
  • 2 years of relevant experience, Home Care Only, required.
  • CRT-Speech Language Pathologist - ASHA American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 1 year required.
  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan, Home Care Business Lines, Upon Hire, required.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association, 90 Days, required, or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross, 90 Days, required.
