Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as a Post Baccalaureate RN Residency Program Coordinator. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the Post Baccalaureate Registered Nurse Residency Program, focusing on individual growth and development in practice and program management with increased levels of self-direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical skills.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care based on age-specific components.
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
  • Follow procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete orientation according to expected standards.
  • Work with close supervision, is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and seeks direction from others as needed.
  • Manage workload as assigned, organize, and complete own assignments in an efficient and appropriate manner.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care.
  • Establish a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment.
  • Engage patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination.
  • Knowledgeable of ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting, VA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Aware of high reliability principles to deliver consistent care and improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • English Language Proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MSN preferred.
  • Prefer teaching experience.
  • CCNE experience a plus.
Work Environment

This position requires visual acuity (including depth perception), keen hearing (aide permitted), clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity in both hands. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking (2-4 hours), standing (2-6 hours), stooping, sitting, bending, pulling (1 2 hours), and pushing (1-2 hours). Lifting (>50 pounds), carrying (>50 pounds). Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. Must be able to work closely with others, as well as protracted or irregular hours of work. Must be compliance with the use of ergonomic exercises and employee safety requirements. The incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles.
