Nurse Specialist in Ambulatory Care

Patient Care and Leadership
We seek an experienced nurse with excellent clinical skills and leadership abilities to join our team. Your responsibilities will include providing direct patient care, leading staff, and serving as a clinical mentor. You will also be responsible for promoting patient education and empowerment.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Assess patient's condition and nursing needs; set goals and utilize appropriate nursing actions to achieve goals
- Provide and document nursing care
- Ensure that physician's orders are carried out
- Monitor supply and medicine requisitions; maintain supply stock levels
- Record and report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to medical staff
- Administer medications and perform routine treatments
- Assist physician with special tests, procedures and complex treatments
- Participate in orientation and evaluation of new personnel
- Assist team members in patient care; coordinate patient care in conjunction with procedures by other UH departments and clinics
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
- Process data and generates reports; assist in the reception and discharge areas; handle patient calls and triage using documentation
- Ensure patient medical records contain necessary information; document medical history or chief complaint; triage and initiate care for walk-in patients
- Document lab cultures; ensure follow-up on abnormal results
- Serve as a mentor to patients to promote self management, hope and empowerment
- Provide education for patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and the use of prescriptive medical treatment
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have a nationally accredited nursing graduate degree and be certified in CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers within 30 days. Experience working in a similar setting is highly desirable.
Physical Conditions and Working Environment
This role involves heavy work, requiring the ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. You may also be exposed to chemicals and bio hazardous materials that require personal protective equipment.
