As a Construction Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of physical labor tasks at construction sites. This may include operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, and assisting other craft workers.
- Tend to equipment and machinery to provide power for tools and materials.
- Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery and tools.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of machinery and materials.
- Read plans and instructions to determine work activities.
- Measure and mark areas where construction work will be performed.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
- Dig ditches and trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth to grade specifications.
- Load and unload building materials, distributing them to the appropriate locations.
- Position and align structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
- Implement green certified construction practices, such as waste management procedures and erosion control mechanisms.
- Control traffic passing near work zones.
- Install pipes and equipment using pipe-laying machinery and laser guidance.
- Operate air monitoring devices in confined environments.
- Smooth and finish freshly poured cement and concrete.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and temporary structures.
- Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters and masons.
- Spray materials to clean and coat surfaces.
- Raze buildings and salvage materials.
- Mop and spread cleaning solutions to clean surfaces.
- Position and dismantle forms for pouring concrete.
- Grind and polish surfaces using abrasive tools and machines.
- Place and protect case-in-place concrete and masonry structures.
- Mix and apply compounds to cover and clean surfaces.
- Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete and pavement.
- Apply caulking compounds to protect against water and air entry.
