About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Support Specialist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical operations of our nursing unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with directing the flow of activities within the nursing unit, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Maintain optimal communication between members of the healthcare team, providing direct patient care in compliance with established competencies, policies, and standards.
  • Perform direct patient care as assigned, applying good judgment and knowledge of skills required within the realm of job responsibility.
  • Report all pertinent observations and concerns directly to the nurse, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Document in the Electronic Medical Record as per policy, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Perform clerical skills, including use of computer, copier, fax, phones, and other equipment, to support the efficient operation of the unit.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality, adhering to strict confidentiality protocols.
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, complete skills checklist, and correctly perform these skills daily as required.
  • Answer call bells according to hospital standards, providing timely and responsive care to patients.
  • Use equipment appropriately, ensuring safe and effective use of medical devices.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of patient care assistant experience and/or clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-high school business or secretarial or computer training.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Notary Public for the State of West Virginia or obtain within 6 months of hire date and keep it up-to-date.
