Job Title: International Regulatory Compliance Specialist

At J&J Snack Foods, we are seeking a highly skilled International Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a leader in the snack food industry, we are committed to delivering high-quality products that meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Job Summary:

The International Regulatory Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that our products comply with all applicable international regulations and customer requirements. This includes verifying and approving technical product information, researching and reporting on relevant regulations, and working with third-party labeling consultation to ensure international finished product compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creates, reviews, approves, and maintains accurate food labeling information for finished products by applying a thorough knowledge of international food labeling requirements.
  • Identifies, interprets, and reports relevant international regulations to ensure compliance and to minimize risks.
  • Collects and reviews product specifications to validate ingredients, formulas, allergen statements, claims, and nutrition information for compliance to import country.
  • Clarifies necessary changes needed for international compliance and ensures follow-up through effective written and verbal communication.
  • Effectively communicates technical and regulatory data and recommendations by appropriately tailoring content and approach to the intended audience.
  • Accountable for the completion of all internal/customer requested and required international documentation.
  • Actively participates in cross-functional meetings that support product innovation and change to meet international compliance.
  • Assists manager with international compliance training initiatives.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors industry relevant publications for insight on potential risks, regulatory changes or trends and communicates findings to team management.
  • Assists with maintenance of identity preserved food certifications, Kosher, Organic, Fair Trade, Non-GMO or Bioengineered as related to the country of import.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records, in compliance with applicable recording keeping requirements, to ensure product traceability and data integrity.
Requirements:
  • Possess ability to interpret and apply federal, local, state, and international food laws and regulations to all products sold internationally.
  • Capable of supporting the company's international market requests by providing expertise or research in export requirements, foreign labeling/composition regulations, and international food safety laws.
  • Working knowledge of FDA, USDA, and international labeling requirements.
  • Capable of working with multiple departments simultaneously to achieve a variety of goals.
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, efficient and resourceful with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate business acumen through issue identification, risk management, and cross-functional consensus building.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of adaptability to engage effectively with all levels and styles of employees and management.
  • Self-motivated, can operate autonomously while working collaboratively with other cross-functional team members as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Capable of managing simultaneously workloads, multiple customer demands and shifting priorities within a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt well to change.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Can handle complexity and judgment to meet business needs.
  • Capable of taking an independent initiative; achieve results to benefit the department and company.
  • Have a respectable professional persona and act as a representative for the department.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or related field.
  • Required Experience: Minimum 5 years labeling experience in the food industry. International experience preferred.
Travel Requirements:

Some travel to plant locations.

From $80,000.00 per year
