Position Overview

The University of Georgia is seeking a dedicated individual to support the Museum Director and associated personnel in the management of collections. This role involves ensuring the quality and organization of collection records, maintaining the integrity of the collections space, and overseeing the general upkeep of exhibits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monitoring of museum operations, including responding to inquiries and managing communications with visitors.
  • Support the coordination of museum interns, facilitating their work with specimens and database management.
  • Update and maintain the museum's online presence, including event promotions and outreach activities.
  • Conduct inventory assessments of educational resources and collaborate with academic departments to enhance program offerings.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Museum Director.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess technical expertise in the field, which may be obtained through an apprenticeship, a two-year degree, or a professional certification. Experience in collections management is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift objects as required.
