About the Role

Eaton Aerospace is seeking a skilled CNC Rotary Grinding Machinist to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC Rotary Grinding Machines to perform various grinding operations on steel, stainless steel, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC Rotary Grinding Machines to perform overall height grinding, face chamfer, and other grinding operations.
  • Work from blueprints, operation sheets, method sheets, sketches, and/or verbal instructions to complete tasks.
  • Load and modify information in CNC control when necessary.
  • Set up etching machine to etch Hydrodynamic feature on mating rings.
  • Occasionally run prototype and/or experimental parts.
  • Load parts into oven for baking, assembly of seals.
  • Lap faces to blueprint specifications using appropriate lapping machines.
  • Select proper wheels and diamond type dressers to perform various grinding operations and set proper feeds and speeds.
  • Set up magnetic or air chucks, face plates, holding fixtures, collets, etc.
  • Set up and use micrometers, verniers, depth gauges, Height gauges, dial bore gauges, three jaw comparators, jo- blocks, and other instruments to establish size and check machine set-up and run.
  • Inspect seal and mating ring faces to blueprint requirements using specified measuring equipment.
  • Responsible for own work and have set-up verified by Supervisor or group leader before proceeding.
  • Operator will be required to run multiple machines.
Requirements
  • Prior related grinding experience on Internal, External, Surface Grinding Machines or CNC Turning Machines.
  • Must have experience using shop mathematics and handbook formulas.
  • Must be able to read complicated drawings and sketches.
  • Must be able to use a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of variety of machine tools, machines, hand operations.
  • Over one year up to & including 3 years of experience.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Skills
  • Plan and perform a wide range of machining operations on a wide range of parts and materials.
  • Use judgment to plan and perform diversified work where standard or recognized operation methods are available and the making of general decisions within prescribed limitations as to quality, tolerances, operation, and set up sequence.
  • Moderate physical effort working continuously with material of twenty-five pounds and up to 40 pounds.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention to planning and laying out of work, making setups, interpreting drawings, maintaining close tolerances.
  • 2 to 3 years trades training.
