We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist to join our team at the Amherst County Department of Social Services. As a Family Services Specialist, you will be responsible for providing critical support services to vulnerable populations, including children and adults in need of protection and care.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret and apply laws, policies, and regulations related to human services program areas.
- Monitor, coordinate, and administer specific programs as assigned.
- Coordinate services within specific areas of responsibility.
- Interview and assess client needs, and provide counseling and referrals as needed.
- Present cases to determine appropriate services and develop and implement service plans.
- Provide case management services to monitor compliance and track expenditures.
- Manage program waiting lists and prepare and submit budget estimates.
- Complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary and interagency teams.
- Conduct overall monitoring of programs and serve as a resource to clients and the community.
To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a Human Services area. You will also need to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive salary range of $44,392 to $79,088, commensurate with experience. Additionally, we provide a generous benefit package, including participation in the Virginia Retirement System, employer-paid life and disability insurance, paid holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, as well as affordable medical, dental, and vision insurance.
