Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for maintaining strict hand hygiene protocols to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
- Assists the lead surgeon in patient care during surgical operations, performing designated tasks under supervision.
- Prepares the surgical environment in a timely manner, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are ready for the procedure.
- Demonstrates proficiency in aseptic techniques and possesses a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Responds effectively to unexpected situations during surgery, including assisting with CPR in emergencies.
- Utilizes surgical equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and adheres to operating room protocols.
- Ensures the operating room is adequately stocked and prepared for each surgical case.
- Maintains cleanliness and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment for subsequent use.
- Follows established hospital policies regarding the disposal of hazardous materials.
- Upholds hospital standards for quality assurance, safety, and infection control relevant to the surgical technician role.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program recognized by CAAHEP or ABHES.
Certifications: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association and Surgical Technician Certification (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, with certification required within 90 days of employment.
