Forklift Driver

POSITION SUMMARY


The Forklift Operator is tasked with the operation of powered industrial trucks to facilitate the movement, organization, and inventory management of merchandise.

The operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of the vehicle and may also undertake duties related to order filling and checking.

They must ensure the accurate storage, shipping, and receiving of products to uphold the company's standards for safety, security, and productivity.


As a member of the DSV workforce, Associates are expected to meet performance, safety, and quality objectives.

Compliance with all corporate and site-specific policies is essential, and Associates may be required to perform various tasks as outlined below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving/Put-Away:
Safely unload incoming shipments and transport products to designated storage areas. Accurately input data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Efficiently stack and store products in the appropriate locations.
Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.

Order Picking:
Retrieve and prepare products for shipment, ensuring the correct quantity and type are loaded and dispatched.
Conduct picking operations in a manner that meets customer service expectations.
Prepare freight for operations accurately and promptly as required.

Quality Control:
Verify that inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and undamaged.
Report any discrepancies in quality.

Delivery:
Efficiently transport products from staging and/or storage areas to production lines and/or staging docks.
Ensure proper documentation accompanies all freight.

Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure effective inventory control and security.
Assist with physical inventory counts and ensure proper stock rotation.

Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
Keep the work area clean, organized, and secure.
Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies, safety regulations, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
Participate in safety meetings.

Equipment Operation:


Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using forklifts and other powered equipment.

Maintain equipment and materials in a clean and orderly manner.
Conduct daily inspections and perform minor maintenance on forklifts and other machinery.
Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, following established work methods.
Associates must maintain an active forklift certification.

Maintenance:
Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as needed.
Perform other site-specific duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
At least 6 months of experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

Completion of a forklift training program is required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills and familiarity with RF scanners and WMS functions.
Language Skills

Proficiency in English (reading, writing, verbal).
Mathematical Skills


Basic to intermediate skills for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and performing related tasks.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1-2 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution setting.
1-2 years of forklift operation experience.
Current or prior MHE certification.
