We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Dietitian Specialist to join our team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for delivering healthy lifestyle programming to children and families to improve diet and food-related issues and achieve optimal nutrition.
Job Responsibilities:- Develop and manage healthy lifestyle programming, creating therapeutic diets and implementing meal preparation and service for pediatric patients.
- Select appropriate feeding modes for patients and converse with healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions.
- Construct menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical conditions of patients and integrate patient menus with basic institutional menus.
- Inspect meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance.
- Instruct patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
- May supervise activities of workers engaged in food preparation and service.
- May engage in research and teach nutrition and diet therapy to medical students and hospital personnel.
- May serve as an interventionist on the team, responsible for delivering manualized interventions to children and families.
- Responsible for staying up-to-date with state and federal policies related to dietitian regulation.
- Masters in dietetics and nutrition.
- Experience with group-based health promotion and nutrition intervention for children and families.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Great communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Excellent at working with children and families.
