Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage healthy lifestyle programming, creating therapeutic diets and implementing meal preparation and service for pediatric patients.
  • Select appropriate feeding modes for patients and converse with healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions.
  • Construct menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical conditions of patients and integrate patient menus with basic institutional menus.
  • Inspect meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and standards of palatability and appearance.
  • Instruct patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
  • May supervise activities of workers engaged in food preparation and service.
  • May engage in research and teach nutrition and diet therapy to medical students and hospital personnel.
  • May serve as an interventionist on the team, responsible for delivering manualized interventions to children and families.
  • Responsible for staying up-to-date with state and federal policies related to dietitian regulation.
Requirements:
  • Masters in dietetics and nutrition.
  • Experience with group-based health promotion and nutrition intervention for children and families.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Great communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent at working with children and families.
