Research Intern Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to join our team at the Hui Zhang Laboratory in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Washington State University.

Job Summary:

The Research Intern will support our research initiative in Immunology and Cancer Biology by performing investigative procedures, modifying procedures to accomplish research goals, collecting, processing, and analyzing data, running research protocols, and assisting in preparing manuscripts for journals or presentations for conferences.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory research and experiments in cancer immunotherapy and analysis of immune functions in mouse models
  • Handle experimental animals, measure tumor growth, harvest tissue and organs, isolate cells, DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and manipulation, cell transfer, PCR, qPCR, western blotting, flow cytometry analysis, histology, and microscopy
  • Assist in preparing manuscripts for journals or presentations for conferences
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and laboratory team members to achieve research goals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols
  • Excellent experimental and analytical skills, understanding and knowledge of research theory, interviewing experience, and excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with common laboratory procedures, animal handling, cell culture, and excellent oral and written communication skills
