About this position:

Wells Fargo is in search of a driven professional with a robust grasp of financial reporting governance and control mechanisms to become a subject matter expert (SME) within our Governance and Oversight division. This team enjoys extensive interaction with key stakeholders across the financial reporting framework and is part of the Enterprise Controls & Oversight group that reports to the Corporate Controller.

The team is dedicated to upholding the company's commitment to maintaining a premier financial and regulatory reporting control environment and is responsible for several key initiatives:
  • Delivering insightful evaluations of the existing financial, regulatory, risk, and system and organization control (SOC) reporting control landscape, including internal controls governing the Company's financial, regulatory, and risk reporting.
  • Overseeing the development and governance of Wells Fargo & Company's COSO and SOC-based policies for internal controls related to financial, regulatory, and risk reporting, along with SOC reporting. This includes strategic planning to sustain leading practices in financial, regulatory, and risk reporting COSO, SOC, and general ledger reconciliation policies while proactively addressing internal control issues.
  • Keeping abreast of new and evolving AICPA, PCAOB, and SEC guidelines and standards, and facilitating training for interested and affected stakeholders across the organization.
  • Offering consultation and expertise on process and control-related issues, including assessing the severity of control deficiencies and associated remediation efforts.
  • Providing process and control support and thought leadership for projects sponsored by EC&O.
  • Engaging with regulators, external auditors, and other stakeholders regarding control-related topics.
  • Consulting on issues affecting general ledger reconciliations.
  • Leading change initiatives specifically related to general ledger reconciliations.
  • Acting as a catalyst for continuous improvement of the control environment and fostering the adoption of best practices.
This individual will serve as a governance and oversight subject matter expert with a focus on financial and regulatory reporting that adheres to COSO-based policies, taking on oversight responsibilities for intricate subject matter/control areas.

In this position, you will:
  • Consult with business lines and enterprise functions on matters of financial reporting or information technology governance, controls, and oversight.
  • Identify compliance and risk management obligations for the supported area.
  • Assist in the implementation of critical risk initiatives.
  • Plan, execute, or oversee testing and monitoring related to complex subject matter or control areas.
  • Provide technical interpretations on various issues.
  • Maintain regular communication and consultation with stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Implement, operate, and report on the outcomes of complex components of the company's policy, governance, and oversight framework.
  • Lead the execution of complex projects and initiatives that affect one or more business lines, risk types, or control issues.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve challenges and achieve objectives.
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Reporting, or Business and Technology Audit, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, and education.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in a Big Four public accounting firm.
  • Background in the financial services industry.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Practical experience with SOC reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with internal controls over financial reporting.
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems (MIS), Analytics, or Reporting.
  • Capability to manage effectively within a matrixed organization.
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation.
  • Experience with governance and oversight requirements for regulatory and risk reporting.
  • Superior project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
