Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Soft Tissue Service at the University of Maryland Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with physician colleagues, and contributing to the development of clinical pathways.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Practice
- Provide comprehensive history and physical assessments for patients admitted to the service.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, establish medical diagnoses, and design treatment plans.
- Collaborate with attending physicians and residents to ensure timely intervention and effective patient care.
- Communicate plans of care with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Provide formal and informal educational programs for healthcare team members.
- Participate in mentoring activities, precept students, and promote understanding of disease processes.
- Function as a clinical resource for team members and provide community education and health promotion.
- Coordinate adequate nurse practitioner coverage on the service and work with physician leaders to achieve service-specific outcome targets.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and develop clinical pathways.
- Advise and influence hospital-level policy and procedure to improve patient care delivery.
- Master of Science degree with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
- Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
- CPR required.
- ACLS/BCLS as required for inpatient work.
- A minimum of one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
