Diesel Technician III Job Description

A&A Ready Mixed Concrete is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Technician III to join our team. As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, and repairing all series of motor truck and trailer equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment.
  • Diagnose, rebuild, and repair fleet equipment, including tractors, trailers, and mixer units.
  • Prepare work orders manually and on a computer.
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document.
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety.
  • Work in a safe manner, adhering to company, local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units.
  • Perform minor welding.
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure they are working properly.
  • Raise trucks, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Perform duties with little or no supervision and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, including replacing or rebuilding complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel systems, after-treatment systems, mixers, etc.
  • Assist in training other employees and act as a mentor.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to close geographical locations.
Requirements:
  • 6 years of practical experience with tractor-trailer maintenance required.
  • Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade, including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand, and power tools, required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and email, required.
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if it is operating properly.
  • Must provide own tools and toolbox.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/Technical or certification preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials) or OEM training courses required.
  • Effective communication skills in the English language in both written and verbal form required.
Language Skills:

Candidate must have effective communication skills in the English language in both written and verbal form.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Current CDL license with air brake certification required.
  • ASE Certification and 608/609 certifications required (Master T preferred).
