Job Overview

Pilot Freight Services is seeking a qualified Ocean Import Operations Specialist to join our team. This position is based in our Northlake, IL office and operates from 8 AM to 5 PM. Please note that this is an in-office role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage international ocean freight bookings, ensuring timely tracking and tracing of shipments.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to company policies.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Proactively address operational challenges and maintain clear communication with clients regarding their shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with TSA, KSMS, and other regulatory standards related to shipment booking and routing.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in international operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience interacting with carriers, colleagues, and handling agents.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Capable of executing tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with reach truck forklifts and pallet jacks is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience in ocean import operations is required.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily clerical and administrative within a professional office environment. The employee will frequently sit, and occasionally stand, walk, use hands, stoop, bend, and reach. Extensive use of a phone and computer is necessary. Remote work may be required at times.
