Position Overview

The Health and Safety Manager is tasked with the strategic planning, development, coordination, and execution of safety and occupational health initiatives concerning personnel, materials, equipment, and work environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee medical-related matters including HAZ Mat Surveillance, Respiratory, Workers Comp, and Off Duty protocols.
  • Conduct essential employee onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Investigate and analyze all near-miss incidents, accident reports, facility inspections, and environmental testing outcomes.
  • Manage claims and maintain ongoing communication regarding them.
  • Collaborate with Risk Control, Captive Insurance, and Client/Disposal Partner H&S Representatives.
  • Facilitate and coordinate training for workers in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Review all safety programs for compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Deliver comprehensive training on critical topics such as Confined Space, HAZWOPER, First Aid & CPR, DOT Hazardous Materials, and OSHA 10 Hour.
  • Recommend safety features for processes and products to mitigate exposure to workplace hazards.
  • Conduct both external and internal audits to ensure compliance and safety standards.
  • Engage in emergency response planning and execution.
  • Maintain professional development and training certifications.
  • Support the integration of new business units and ensure adherence to corporate safety programs.
  • Work closely with the Director of Environmental and Manager of Transportation to develop training materials and safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, environmental science, or engineering is required; alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Proficiency in OSHA, ANSI, ASM, NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act, and RCRA requirements is essential.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and environmental compliance is necessary.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret safety and environmental regulations, as well as mathematical concepts, are required.
