Job Summary

Central New York Quest Incorporated is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Specialist to join our team. As a Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home or community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishing Relationships

Develop and maintain respectful relationships with individuals, utilizing a person-centered approach to understand their needs and preferences.

Teaching and Assistance

Provide teaching and assistance as needed to support individuals in completing daily living tasks and skills, such as cleaning, laundry, cooking, personal care, and banking.

Advocacy and Support

Promote advocacy and support for individuals, seeking out services and resources to enhance their quality of life.

Crisis Intervention

Respond to crisis situations in a calm and professional manner, utilizing good judgment to prevent, intervene, and resolve situations that may arise.

Documentation and Record-Keeping

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation for each consumer served, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

A high school diploma and 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities are required. A valid driver's license and willingness to transport clients in your own vehicle are also necessary.

Skills and Qualities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A strong commitment to providing person-centered support and services is essential.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, requiring less than 20 hours of work per week. Reliable transportation is necessary, as services will take place in clients' homes and communities.
